I just received my new Target card and there were a few notes about the billing policy that I had questions about. I have always had a Target Red Debit card, but I have been tossing around the idea of getting a credit card as well. However, I wanted to make sure that I received a few answers to my questions before I went ahead and applied for a credit card. After all, the last thing I need is a hit on my credit report right before Christmas!
Of course, I thought it might take me a while to talk to someone from Target because it's now the holiday season, and I am sure that Target is pretty busy. While I usually resolve my problems using the live chat option on their website, I felt more comfortable talking to a person on the phone since it was about my personal credit application. Plus, I wanted the security of knowing that they understand my questions and concerns. To my surprise, it actually only took me two minutes to talk to someone, so I'm pretty impressed.
When I first called, a voice assistant stated, "Thank you for calling Target Red Card guest services. So that we can help you, please enter your entire card number or account ID and press the pound key." I purposely called during my long commute so that I wouldn't have to waste time on hold, so I didn't have my number. I tried to say that I didn't have it, but it just repeated itself again. This happened three times in a row before the system finally moved on and gave me options to choose from.
The options were, "To speak with a team member to report a card lost or stolen, press 1. To change your address, press 2. To verify your card number in order to use our self-service options, press 3. To speak with a team member, press 0." I chose to talk to a team member because even if I used the self-service I didn't have my informant nor anywhere to write it down while driving.
This is where I thought I would have a long wait, but it told me to hold and I instantly was connected to a gentleman who helped me. He did have a thick accent, but he was very friendly and helpful and that helped make the process easier although I did really have to pay attention.
