I received this email the other day from Forever 21 that offered free shipping, so I excitedly picked out some clothes and was getting ready to check out but then I noticed the email was a bit confusing. It had an offer for free shipping with no minimum purchase and an offer for free shipping at $50+. I had planned on using the no-minimum option because that was enticing to me to just pick up a few basics, but it was not going to be any good for me if it didn't have a code.
It made the most sense to just call the company and see if they would give me a code or help me checkout. Clearly, there was a mistake in the email, but I was hopeful that they might still honor it. I assume that people call Forever 21 all the time to help with online orders, sales issues, returns, and more. Therefore, I really didn't know that how long I would stay on the line, but I wasn't up for much so I thought I would give it a shot. Luckily for me, they actually have great customer service and it only took about two minutes to get to a customer service agent.
When I called, a virtual assistant answered the phone and attempted to use slang, but it somewhat fell flat. The entire phone call was actually like that, but the clothes are still trendy so I'll excuse the bad tone and tacky attitude. They started by saying, "Thank you for calling Forever 21. Press 1 for English and 2 for Spanish. Thanks for calling Forever 21. Please select 1 if you are calling about returns, or press 2 if you would like to speak with one of our team members." I of course chose 2 to talk to someone.
I had to listen very carefully because the voice was also very soft, and it wasn't until I got to this point that it got louder for some odd reason. This time it said, "Okay great, we will connect you with the most available representative. This call will be recorded for quality training purposes." To my delight, I didn't even have to listen to any elevator music because someone picked up right away. It was ironic that after the slight Valley Girl voice assistant, a heavily accented customer service representative picked up the phone. However, they helped me check out with a code that worked so I really didn't care who answered.
