The issue in GetHuman-lacianar's own words
I was shopping at a Dollar General in Belington. WV. The time was around * to *:** p.m. on Friday Nov. **. My fiance asked the cashier where the restroom was and after the cashier finally acknowledged my fiance, he said the restroom were (and pointed) that way., but there was a female in there at the time. Now it wasn't so much what the cashier said but the look and tone of his response that was ***% disrespectful. My fiance Chris decided to go to the car after the cashier made him feel like he was an annoyance. I tried to call this location several times after I got home because this isn't the first time I have had issues with Dollar General employees. I am racially profiled and followed everytime I go into a Dollar General. I know this is for no other reason than to harass me and assuming I'm trying to shoplift. I have reported employees of other stores and not only was I never contacted by a general or regional manager. I was basically just dismissed about how I was treated. I am always respectful and polite but it gets me nowhere. So, like I said I decided to leave the store and Chris, my fiance called me on my cell to tell me he forgot a pharmacy bag in the buggy he was using and will I go retrieve it. So I walk to the front where the same male cashier is located and I ask him if anyone turned in a pharmacy bag. My fiance thinks he left it in the buggy by mistake. He asked what was in the bag, which was not his business, but i answered him saying it was test strips and insulin for diabete and also syringes. After an audible sigh, he went to what looked like an office and asked a female if she had seen the bag, she said no and he told me nobody saw the bag or knew where it was. This employee clearly had an issue with treating patrons with respect. I could tell he either thought i was lying or assumed that I wasn't worth talking to like anything but a black woman who was trying to play games to steal merchandise or he just doesn't care for people who are not caucasion. Like i stated previously,, this is the same treatment i recieve at any Dollar General i go into. I have been humiliated and embarrassed in front of customers and other employees by the people that are employed there and seem to think its ok to treat minorities anyway they want and to assume they are shoplifting whenever they come in the door. I want something done about this. I am tired of taking this from your employees and after contacting customer sevice number and speaking to someone else i have never heard back from your general or district manager ever. I feel i deserve to be compensated for the racial profiling your company seems to be practicing everyday,, the humiliation and embarrassment i have endured time and again. I know your company lost a million dollar lawsuit for racially discrimination in hiring practices so its public record how you feel about minorities, African American in particularly. I expect to hear from the geral manager or district manager for this store within ** hours. I hope that there can be some kind of resolution for my damages suffered by your employees. It is ****, there should not be any racial profiling or any kind at your company. If I don't hear from someone in ** hours I will arrempt to make contact with someone who is higher up in the company.. i will not be satisfied with anything less than monetary compensation and a sincere apology. I didn't do anything to deserve this kind of treatment except walk in Dollar General to buy things i needed.
