My local channels disappeared without warning today, *******. I reset my receiver, and when that didn't work I called DISH. At first the person I talked to seemed to want to help. He told me my receiver (installed in ****) was out of date and I would need a new receiver. Two new receivers to be exact. Then he pushed to get me to agree to it with a ** month commitment that I only found out about after I asked what would happen if I decided to leave DISH. He told me that until he read the disclosure to me, which could only happen after I made an installation appointment, he would not know how much I would be penalized if I left DISH. I told him that if I was going to make a ** month commitment to DISH, then I wanted a ** month commitment for my price to remain the same as it was. I also told him that DISH pulled the money yesterday, *******, from my account according to the month-to-month agreement I have with them. I feel that DISH pulling my local channels puts them in breach of the contract I have with them. An appointment was made, but when he read the disclosure to me, he told me there would be a $** credit for ** months. This isn't to lower my bill, but it's to credit me for the new receivers. He said the loyalty department would have to work with me to secure a ** month agreement on my current price. He refused to transfer me to them. He had previously told me that there were temporary channels he could give me for my local channels. I told him to cancel the appointment and asked for the temporary channels. He continued badgering me until I told him that we had been on the phone for an hour, and I wanted the codes or I would be contacting DISH and letting them know he was harassing me. All I want is my month-to-month contract to be honored with my local stations on the channels they are supposed to be on without having to upgrade my system which will cost me more in the end. If an upgrade is needed, I want ** months of equipment protection for free, the receiver fee waived for the life of my account with DISH and my current price to remain the same for the next ** months. I did not ask to lose my channels, I did not ask for this upgrade, and I have been a loyal customer who has paid my bill in good faith every month even when DISH magically lost at least one local channel contract per year that resulted in weeks of not having that channel and an annual fee increase of at least $* a month.
